Windows 98 Dial-Up Networking Procedures
To set up your Speed Factory Dial Internet Service using Windows 98,
please follow the instructions below:
- Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
- In the My Computer window, double-click Dial-Up Networking.
- In the Dial-Up Networking window, double-click Make New Connection.
- Name the new entry Speed Factory.net, and click Next.
- Enter the appropriate number, and click Next.
- Click Finish to save.
- Return to the Dial-Up Networking window and right-click the Speed Factory icon. Click Properties.
- Click the Server Types tab. Select the Enable software compression and TCP/IP check boxes. The
other choices should not be selected. Continue by clicking the TCP/IP Settings button.
- Select Server assigned IP address and Server assigned name server addresses. Select the Use IP
header compression and Use default gateway on remote network check boxes.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again.
- Double-click the Speed Factory icon in the Dial-Up Networking window to connect.
- Enter your User name and Password. Click Connect.
- You are now ready to browse the Internet.
Creating a Shortcut to Your New Connection on Windows 98
- Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Dial-up Networking.
- Right-click and drag the Speed Factory icon to your desktop and release the mouse button.
- Click Create Shortcut(s) Here.

Windows NT Dial-Up Networking Procedures
To set up your Speed Factory Dial Internet Service using Windows
NT, please follow the instructions below:
- Double-click My Computer.
- In the My Computer window, double-click Dial-Up Networking.
- In the Phonebook entry to dial section, click New.
- Name the new entry Speed Factory and click Next.
- Select the I am calling the Internet check box, and click Next.
- Enter the appropriate number, and click Next.
- Click Finish to save.
- In the Dial-Up Networking box, click the More menu and select Edit entry and modems properties.
- Click the Server tab. Select the TCP/IP and Enable software compression check boxes. The other choices should be left blank. Click TCP/IP Settings.
- Select Server assigned IP address and Server assigned name server addresses. Select the Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote network check boxes.
- Click OK.
- In the Edit Phonebook Entry screen, click OK.
- In the Dial-Up Networking screen, click Dial to connect.
- Enter your user name and enter your password. Click OK.
- Begin browsing.
Creating a Shortcut to Your New Connection Windows NT
- Click the Start button, point to Programs > Accessories > Dial-up Networking.
- Click the More button and select Create shortcut to entry.
- Choose to look in the desktop and click OK.

Windows ME Dial-Up Networking Procedures
Dial-Up Networking can be located by selecting Start > Settings > Dial-Up Networking.
- In the Dial-Up Networking window, double-click Make New Connection.
- Name the new entry Speed Factory, and click Next.
- Enter the appropriate telephone number, and click Next.
- Click Finish to save.
- Return to the Dial-up Networking window and right-click the Speed Factory icon. Click Properties.
- Click on the Networking tab and select the Enable software compression and TCP/IP check boxes (the other choices should not be selected). Next, click the TCP/IP Settings button.
- Select Server assigned IP address and Server assigned name server addresses. Select the Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote network check boxes.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again.
- Return to the Dial-up Networking window and double-click on the Speed Factory icon.
- Enter your User name and password, then click Connect.
- You are now ready to browse the Internet.

Windows 2000 Dial-Up Networking Procedures
To set up your Speed Factory Dial Internet Service using Windows 2000, please
follow the instructions below:
- Open Network and Dial-up Connections by selecting Start > Settings > Network and Dial-up Connections.
- Double-click on the Make New Connection icon to open the Connection Wizard.
- Click Next.
- Select Dial-up to the Internet. Then click Next.
- Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually", or "I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)." Then click Next.
- Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem." Then click Next.
- Enter the appropriate telephone number for the local Dial-up connection. Then click Next.
- Enter your user name and password. Then click Next.
- Name the new entry Speed Factory, and click Next.
- You will be asked if you want to set up an Email account. Select No and click Next.
- Click Finish.

- Right-click on My Network Places on you desktop and choose Properties.
- Right-click and drag the Speed Factory icon to your desktop and release the mouse button.
- Click Create Shortcut(s) Here.

Windows XP Dial-Up Networking Setup
Dial-Up Networking can be located by selecting Start > Control Panel > Network and
Internet Connections > Network Connections.
To set up your Dial-up Connection using Windows XP, please follow the instructions below.
- In the Network Connections window under Network Tasks, click Create a New Connection.
- Click Next.
- Highlight Connect to the Internet, and click Next.
- Highlight Set up my connection manually, and click Next.
- Highlight Connect using a dial-up modem, and click Next.
- Type in Speed Factory, and click Next.
- Enter the appropriate number, and click Next.
- Enter your username and password (then retype your password in the Confirm password
input box), and click Next.
- Click Finish.
Note: Check the box to add a shortcut to your desktop, if desired.
- The Connect to Speed Factory window will appear. Click Properties.
Note: If this window does not appear, then it can be found at Start > Control Panel > Network
and Internet Connections > Network Connections and then click Speed Factory
- Click the Networking tab.
- Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically and select Obtain DNS server address automatically.
- Click Advanced.
- Check Use the default gateway on remote network and Use IP header compression, and then click OK.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again.
- Enter your username and Password, and then click Dial.
Creating a Shortcut to Your New Connection in Windows XP
- Click the Start button, point to Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections, and then click on Network Connections.
- Right-click and drag the Speed Factory icon to your desktop, then release your mousebutton.
- Click Create Shortcut(s) Here.

Mac OS10.x Dial-Up Networking Procedures
Dial-Up Networking can be located by selecting Start > Control Panel > Network and
Internet Connections > Network Connections.
To set up your Dial-up Connection using Windows XP, please follow the instructions below.
- From the Desktop, click on the Apple menu, and select "System Preferences..."
- Once the System Preferences window loads, click on "Network" to load the Network Preferences.
- In the Network Preferences pane, set :
- Location to "Automatic,"
- Set Show to "Internal Modem".;
- Set Configure to "use PPP."
- The "Domain Name Servers" should be left blank.
- The "Search Domain" should be blank as well.
- When done, click on the "PPP" tab.
- On the PPP tab,
- Service Provider should be "Speed Factory"
- Enter the Access Number,
- Enter the Account name,
- Enter the Account password,
- Check the "Save password" box.
- To change or check the PPP options, click on the "PPP Options" button
- In the PPP Options window:
- If you want to automatically connect when the browser opens, or email program, or any TCP/IP
application, make sure that "Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications" is checked.
Note: If unchecked, you will have to connect manually using the Internet Connect application.
- Click "OK" to exit PPP Options.
- By default, the Proxy settings tab is blank. Speed Factory does not require proxy settings. Please Leave these blank.
- Click the Modems Tab.
On the Modems Tab,
To change the internal modem protocol, you would do so by clicking on the "Modem:" pulldown menu
- Selecting "Apple Internal 56k Modem(V.34)."
- Make sure that the modem is set to "tone" dialing instead of "pulse."
- Once you are all through configuring the network preferences, click on "Apply Now" and close the window.
